The Skeleton Rep so excited to announce our participation in the New York New Works festival this year, happening at Theatre Row next month! The story started as a play, Whatchamacallit: A Play About Jesus. It became The Inconvenient Miracle: A Mysterious Birth Musical. Now, we're doing it in 1/2 an hour. This condensed musical is written by Emily Claire Schmitt, Emily Rose Simons, and Ria T. DiLullo. We are also so fortunate to have our cast from May's workshop joining us again! We will be performing: 9/5 & 9/12 @ 7pm Theatre Row, 42nd Street The Acorn Each evening, every audience member get to vote on their two favorite shows, which will have an impact on if we get a third performance! Show your support for Skeleton Rep, new work, and female-driven stories by coming out for a night of incredible new theater! And don't forget to vote for the girls at St. Angela's in "The Inconvenient Miracle!" We hope to see you there!
Cheers, The Skeleton Rep Team Inconvenient Miracle What is Fractured Atlas, and what is fiscal sponsorship?Fractured Atlas is a 501(c)(3) public charity, which makes it possible for those who have fiscal sponsorship to accept donations, which now includes us. What this means for you is that contributions to The Skeleton Rep are now tax-deductible... HALLELUJAH! The Skeleton Rep has an exciting fall coming up -
1. We've got a show in the New York New Works festival this September. 2. We're co-producing a show for Fringe NYC in October. 3. We'll be announcing some exciting personnel additions soon! We're also already hard at work planning our 2019 season. If you're into our mission to explore modern myth and want to support us, check out our Fiscal Sponsorship page. You can donate monthly or once, at any amount. Our first goal is $100/month - help us get there! If donating isn't in the cards for you right now, we still want to see you! We'll be announcing ticket links for the fall shows soon, and we'd love to show you what we've been up to. I, Ria T. DiLullo, am so pleased to be sharing something I've written as part of the summer Salon Series - Agrodulce ! I will be presenting this work Saturday 7/28 @ 7pm, will the help of the most incredible cast: Barron Bass Claire Buckingham Michelle Cage John Carlin Brendan Cataldo Emmanuel Linden-Broner Dani Martineck Courtney McClellan Miranda Poett John Racioppo Those of you who have been following the salon series for a while might remember this show by another name. The script was presented as "Grief Lines" in January 2015. After a set of rewrites, it became clear that the title needed to change. "Agrodulce" is the Italian for "bittersweet" or "sour-sweet," which I believe more appropriately reflects just how dynamic a family becomes in the moments following the surprise and grief of a loss.
Please RSVP & BYOB. I look forward to seeing you there! Cheers, Ria AKA The Skeleton Rep You may remember a call to action from last year, asking for shorts about little known women in history. Dani Martineck wrote an incredible piece for Courtney McClellan about Cathay Williams, the first black woman to serve (undercover) with the Buffalo Soldiers, a specialist group of the army during the Civil War and the years beyond. Less than a year later, the piece has been developed and performed through Urban Stages' Outreach program. After being performed throughout the spring, we are pleased to be able to share our work on the Urban Stages stage, for one night only* - Saturday 7/7 @ 6pm 259 West 30th Street *The performance is paired with the other Outreach program from this spring, which asks what happens when the Goddess of Love gets rejected, using only the text from a little known Shakespeare poem.
